About KenaiFishCharters.com
KenaiFishCharters.com is an independent, informational guide to fishing Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. Despite the name, we are not a charter company. We do not run fishing trips, sell trips, take bookings or earn commissions from operators.
What we do
We write plain-language guides that help visitors and new anglers understand how fishing works on the Kenai Peninsula: when the salmon runs typically arrive, how halibut trips work, how to evaluate a guide or charter, what to pack, and what licenses are needed. We try to answer the questions people actually ask before their first trip.
How we research
We rely on official and primary sources wherever possible, including:
- The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (regulations, emergency orders, run counts and licensing)
- NOAA Fisheries Alaska Region and the International Pacific Halibut Commission (halibut management)
- Alaska State Parks (Kenai River Special Management Area)
- The U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Russian River area and Kenai National Wildlife Refuge)
What we do not do
- We do not publish current-season limits or king salmon rules, because they change by emergency order. We point you to ADF&G instead.
- We do not list prices, because they vary and change.
- We do not publish reviews, ratings or endorsements of specific businesses.
